The
14th Annual FWC Section Highschool Design Contest
The
14th Annual High School Student Design Contest was conducted at the Tyrone
Square Mall on February 19th. Approximately 130 High School Juniors
and Seniors participated in the mystery design contest. These students
were chaperoned by their science advisors (mainly Physics teachers)
who along with local mall passerby’s cheered the designs racing to get
closest to a bullseye target. The winner scored the second closest
to the mark on both of two tries propelling him to victory. The winning
team was from Departments, Trophies for their school’s display, personal
prizes such as music CD’s, and everyone got a T-shirt (designed once again
by Neville Brass). Thanks for the organizational efforts of Jim Windgassen
from Honeywell and Melinda Bell, who were a tremendous help and did much
of the planning on their own. Next year’s contest ideas should be
churning and the contents inside the bag should be taking shape, ready,
set, “you have 90 minutes to complete your design”. It’s always interesting.
